A little sleepy this morning... wishing that my bed looked like this though...
I want to say thank you again for all of your lovely comments about our dining room. I am in the process of putting it all back together this weekend and then next week maybe something for that wall. It seems so naked without the mirrors. I will test the clock theory but I am not sure that it will stand out with enough contrast for me. I am considering putting something like thisin there since I already have them (but if someone buys them then I can get my new chandelier!!!) and I would have to change out some other pieces if I did that. I am sure I won't be able to wait long as I get a little impatient sometimes and I want to have it semi together before a dinner we are hosting on the 14th of November! I will keep you up to date though. Have a wonderful weekend and a very spooky Halloween!
Here is my dining room as it is now... With dark brown paint and the mirror collage. I am not in love. We have an ugly ceiling fan that was existing and most of the furniture was new. I had the drapery made and put in just after we moved in a couple of years ago. I have been dying to change this room for a while now but have been kind of undecided on what exactly to do. (I have had a square of Slate Grey from Restoration Hardware painted on the wall for 3 months or so waiting for my husband to give in.)
So we will paint and I have decided to sell the mirrors to make way for a large reproduction clock face with zinc. I am so excited! I am hoping that the grey on grey will work for the space. I would really love to have some mirrored window panes here - but a clock face will do nicely for now. I am going to recover the chair seats too once the painting is done. I found a great settee at the Long Beach Flea Market a few months back that I was thinking of putting in here but it is too low so I have another location planned for that.
The floor will remain unfinished concrete as I am still deciding if we should stain it or just wait for the wood flooring I liked to be within my budget.
I have decided to go ahead with the Slate paint from Restoration Hardware- I love the dark contrast with the white trim. As we progress I will have to give you an update...
(I know I never did do an update on the front door project- they look amazing- I will have to take some pictures and post them.)
What do you think?

This is one of my favorite places in the Flamant Home book. (you can get one for yourself on the side there via amazon). The hotel looks fabulous and so relaxing... makes you want to get away from it all, yes??
Just think of all the sand on that beautiful white floor...
Ochre is one of my favorite sources for lighting... so when I saw the home of the couple that brought the line to the US you can imagine how excited I was. I am literally dying over this Manhattan loft owned by Andrew Corrie and Harriet Maxwell McDonald. The entire space makes my weak in the knees... Simple sophistication...
It has been a long time since these images were published and I am still in love with this table. In fact I would say it is my all time favorite table... I LOVE it! When I first saw it I searched and searched to find it somewhere- but I think that it is a custom piece...
I included the last picture just cause I love that too... the ottoman is perfection!
For some reason this weekend I am missing travel so much. It is nice to revisit some of my favorite trips through photos. Portugal was amazing- the architecture, the cliffs along the coast and the inspiring gardens.. It was a wonderful trip that I am so longing to take once again.. Maybe some where else next time... Have you been dreaming of travel this fall?
I am thinking that this would be the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of tea and a pain au chocolate... Have a lovely Saturday.. Tomorrow it is up early for the flea market in Long Beach in search of goodies!
Don't forget that today is the last day to enter to win in our giveaway!
I simply cannot tell you how much this image makes me want to dress up to go out.. I love the simplicity of the bling factor. I watched the last few episodes of Sex and the City last night and I am dying to dress up more and go to Paris as soon as humanly possible.. Anyone else?? Who's with me?
